About Us
Davey Fireworks (Originally called C&J's Fireworks after Curt Schnase and Jay Halla) was started in the summer of 1978 on a card table on the Schnase's front porch. After a couple years the business was moved to the family's garage and changed the name to Davey Fireworks. The garage had it's pains with a slanted floor and a leaky roof. There would be many times the blue tarps would come out to keep the fireworks dry from the leaks when the rain came. Our wonderful customers would graciously lift the tarps and continue to shop. Using adding machines we would add up each item and lookup the sales tax on a paper guide. At that time, we knew almost everyone by name or knew if they had been in there previous years.
In 2000, we built a new building. It allowed us to add more items and display them much better. We computerized the registers and bar-coded the items to make the checkout quicker and more accurate. In 2010, we added the third and fourth permanent registers and changed the layout of the floor along with providing shopping carts. Our customers followed and told their friends and neighbors. In 2017 we moved half block north of our original building into a 5,000 sqft showroom. This allowed us again to add another register lane, additional carts, and more display shelves. In 2018 we even installed our name on the front of the building.
Curt Schnase have been there since the beginning in 1978 and Diane married in along the way and yes, Jay and his kids are involved. We work very hard to give you the best product for the best price and stand by everything we sell. Thank you to our loyal customers for continuing to support us and our family bussines. By far, you are the best advertising we have. Happy fourth of July!
